When it comes to Agege, the Akans - especiallly the Ashantis and Akims - stand accused. Our Northern folks also ply theirs in Ashanti and Greater Accra regions. If you want to know more about northern prostitution, try to find out what most Kayayes do at night to supplement their meager income. I rest my case.

I believe I know Mr Agyarko better than most of these so-called Krobos. His mom taught me and I consider her the best teacher in my life. I also happen to have attended the same school, Mfantsipim. And while I'm certain Mr Agyarko is very proud about every ounce of his mom and her Krobo heritage, I've never known Mr Agyarko to go around identifying himself so parochially. I've always known him to be an honourable man, and I strongly disbelieve the bribery allegations against him. But they do not seek to bring him down because he is Krobo.
So, let us be "angry" because a group seeks to destroy an honourable man, not because a man with ties to krobo is being assailed. No, don't minimize Mr Agyarko! Mr Agyarko's position is larger than Krobo land.
I believe Mr Agyarko will do a good job for Ghana. He will do a good job for Asantes, for Bandas, for Ewes, for Efutus, for Fantses, for Gas, for Krobos, and for every Ghanaian.

Such is the kind of tribal nonsense that must not be allowed to fester among our modern society and Nation. Finding competent folks to manage our national affairs must be free from tribal impositions. We could worry if only all Cabinet Ministers were from one or two tribes only, given how numerous our tribes are. Then, some may suspect sheer nepotism. But it has never been so in Ghana since Independence. When there are multiple Candidates of similar qualifications for the same positions, then there comes in the need to widen the choices to show wider diversity. But, even so, dropping others may not necessarily be for their tribal identities.
What the Minority did in the vetting had nothing to do with the tribal background of the two folks, Boakye Agyarko and Otiko Djaba. It was all political, pure and simple, and needed to know the true character of the folks who would become part of our Government's Cabinet. This attitude is shameful and exposes the shallowness and even ignorance of the members in that group.
The fact that these folks are Krobos living amicably in the Western Region must teach these folks that Ghana has long entered a new phase of mutual respect and treatment for all folks, irrespective of ethnic or tribal backgrounds, and that Official positions are not based upon such narrow tribal identities.
We have a secular Democratic system that is supposed to be merit based when it comes filling vacant high-level Offices. So, any opposition by the Minority asking questions of these Cabinet nominees is only formal, normal, legal and ethically appropriate. The behavior of this group might be used to characterize its members as sheer bigots.
If it weren't for this baseless, stupid complaint, I, for one, wouldn't have even noticed Boakye Agyarko was Krobo. And so what? If a Krobo person is incompetent, we cannot say so, and reject him or her for such a crucial national position? Who cares what tribe a candidate hails from? All that matters is the person's competence and eligibility. Besides, both Candidates were approved anyway. So, why the fuss?
