DKM Microfinance liquidator is a ‘hoax’ - Kokofu

MP for Bantama Constituency, Henry Kwabena Kokofu MP for Bantama Constituency, Henry Kwabena Kokofu

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama constituency Henry Kwabena Kokofu has described the appointed liquidator settling payments of affected DKM customers who lost their investments to the Ponzi company as a ‘hoax’.

According to him, the money is from the coffers of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) indicating that the liquidator is a ‘fictitious’ being.

He alleged that the liquidator acquired the monies from MASLOC and that he is not paying the affected customers based on money accrued from sale of confiscated properties from DKM.

Some churches, schools and individuals in the Brong Ahafo region were ‘swindled’ of their monies by Micro financial institutions such as DKM, Jasta Motors, God is Love among others.

The Liquidator on Monday paid 20% across board to about 100 affected customers with others yet to receive their entitlements.

Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah legislator bemoaned that several lives have been lost due to their monies ‘swindled’ by these micro finance companies.

He blamed President John Dramani Mahama for refusing to act when the issue popped up, only to blame the former Bank of Ghana (BoG) Dr. Kofi Wampah and the bank.

Mr. Kokofu charged journalists to investigate the issue to unravel otherwise of it.

He wondered why government after denying its involvement in the ‘scam’ would turn round to settle the monies.

‘God should forgive us our sins for deceiving the less privileged in society. My worry has to do with the widows whose monies have gone waste. There is no liquidator assigned to pay monies of affected customers of DKM, Jasta motors and the rest. MASLOC is settling the payment, I repeat the money is from MASLOC, it is never true that there is a liquidator. The money is from MASLOC coffers, if its from MASLOC then government is behind it. Journalists should investigate the issue, maybe MASLOC or government is intervening in the payment of the monies, because government has earlier denied being part of this whole scam,’ he alleged.

He warned that these micro financial institutions would uproot them from the Flagstaff House.
