this is an open secret it's done everywhere people will only complain when it didt go in their favour. sometimes I wonder if the assemblymen, DCE, MCE , MPs, ministers, presidents and their vices are really serving Ghana.

Hmmm, ask again. Unfortunately, this illegality is considered normal in Ghanaian politics from party office holders to Assembly members, DCEs MMCEs and MPs. Very worrying indeed! And they are not ashamed of it.

The difference here is that it is so crudely obvious, and the recipients of the bribes cheated on the deal.
Much more serious, and a very grave threat to Ghana's democracy, is the way the BNI are presently being used to intimidate the opposition. If Ghana loses its credibility for being a peaceful democracy, it becomes a failed nation state. Like Somalia.

This has always been the case. A nominee has to bribe the Assembly members before they vote to approve his/her nomination.
I know a Mayor who had to rush to the USA to borrow money to bribe members before he was approved.
However, what surprises me in this case is why they should take the money and yet vote against the nominee. If they will not give the man the position, they should as well refund the money to him. All we know, he might have borrowed that money which has to be paid back from contract kickbacks.

What kind of society is this? The other time it was a soccer referee who had taken bribe and yet the team lost so they were looking for a means of taking their money back. Nobody Assemblyman should refund the bcos He want to gain power through corruption and that is the effect. If as a result any of the Assembly members died because of the curse he should be arrested and prosecuted.
