Almost 2 years in office, how many constituencies has Kwabena Agyepong visited let alone ensure that they have funds to run constituency affairs? Rather he has spent all his precious time jumping from radio station to radio station telling Ghanaians how powerful he is. Mr Lecturer, can you mention one SINGLE action taken by Afoko since he was elected to prepare the party for victory in 2016 apart from being involved in internal wranglings at the party head office? Such a truthful and incisive observation ruffles the feathers of all who cannot see anyone else competent enough to lead the NPP other than Akufo-Addo.
But we have all witnessed the draconian, selective clamping down on members of NPP who do not agree with many of the dubious decisions he silently pushes the NEC and the DC to implement.
Anyone who says Akufo-Addo has no hand in the decision to suspend Afoko, Agyepong, Crabbe and others is a pathological liar, and may well be a stooge of the NPP Flagbearer's.
While Akufo-Addo knows that majority of Ghanaians value humility, honesty and integrity, he publicly exhibits a semblance of those attributes but acts just the opposite of all these attributes in a quiet way to obscure his intolerance and bigotry.
Such are the leaders Ghana does not need. The current chaos in the NPP would not have arisen had Akufo-Addo been proactive in finding lasting Peace and Unity between his faction and the Alan faction. Rather, he thought he could float on the wave of perceived mismanagement of the Mahama Administration to succeed in winning the Presidency, and therefore does not need the Alan Faction for anything.
It is most plausible he has resorted to stealthily prodding his minions on to persist in antagonizing outspoken leaders on the Alan's side of the NPP. For all we know, his abject passivity in view of all the chaotic events that keep spiraling out of control in the NPP only goes to assure his minions that all is okay to continue the savage undemocratic methods in wrestling control of NPP to themselves.
The plot to vengefully dispose of Afoko and Agyepong, in particular, was born soon after the two Officials took power from Akufo-Addo stooges Sir John and Jake. The so-called 'Agenda 2020' was a deliberate fabrication by the Akufo-Addo camp to sow seeds of discord among the wider NPP membership who are more focused on seeing the NDC defeated than having any democratic tenets within the NPP upheld.
So far, the scheme seems to be working as Afoko and Agyepong have both been largely painted as a threat to NPP's victory.
Nevertheless, as the chaos in the NPP deepens, many more of its membership would come to know and understand that it is Akufo-Addo's camp that has all along been the problem, and many would abandon him before the Elections.
No matter whatever 'sweet talks', faked humility, and claims of unparalleled integrity Akufo-Addo tries to present to the Public, his true devious machinations to force his contorted dream of ascending the Presidency upon the NPP and Ghanaians would all unravel in time before the Elections.
What Ghanaians ought to be most concerned about is the proclivity of Akufo-Addo's faction to resort to violence when things do not go its way.
Right now, hands are being forced, voices are being choked, and dissenting opinions are being stonewalled by the Akufo-Addo faction to create the artificial impression that all is cool and dandy in the NPP.
But as the following Akan proverbs go, so we all have to expect of the diabolical machinations of the Akufo-Addo faction: "It is the day that a frog dies that we would really know how long it had always been", and "it is not the very day that one exerts to throws a stone across the Volta River that one experiences the resulting pangs of pain in one's ribs"... And that day is not far in coming.
Many astute, highly intelligent leaders of the NPP and sympathetic outsiders have all cautioned the way the NPP Flagbearer continues to overlook the factors causing the rift within the Party. And, even those well-meaning luminaries have been subjected to deprecating insults, a form of intimidation by the Akufo-Addo minions to silence those they perceive as opponents to Akufo-Addo's dream. What these hooligans in Akufo-Addo's camp fail to realize is that the more they attempt to silence and push away others, the more stress comes to bear on the Party's chances of winning in 2016. Arrogance and bigotry that form the crux of attributes of the Akufo-Addo's faction will eventually kill his dream.
