Nobody is saying that Nkrumah was “saint”. What people are saying is that those who overthrew and those who helped in the overthrown of Nkrumah government should bow down their heads in shame because after Nkrumah’s overthrown the clock of Ghana’s development was reversed back.
Just look back what Ghana achieved between 1957 and 1966. We are practicing democracy from 1992 to 2015 (about 23 years) but we have no energy to power our subsistence industries. 64% of Ghanaians aged 15 years and above do not complete MSLC/BECE according to GLSS 6 main report.
Do we eat democracy?
For me, if we will be practicing multi-party democracy and wallow in poverty it will be good for us to be practicing one-party democracy that will make us develop as human beings.
Anyway Prof, looking at your age I believe that you benefited from Nkrumah’s dictatorship to become a professor. Aren't you? Thank God that Nkrumah was a dictator to make you benefit from his dictatorship.

You know something: Nkrumah was more than a saint. His love for Africa was real. Was selfless, and a true unifier. Didn't steal Ghana money. Didn't bow to pressure to develop his hometown at the expense of other towns. He worked for Ghana. Didn't look down on any tribe. He did the best for his people as a human being can. If he was a catholic, he'd have been canonized by now. After all, saints were also humans who weren't perfect.

Were all these developments in the pipeline before he came to power? Tema Township and Harbour, The Black Star Line, KNUST, UCC, GIHOC, Ghana Airways, Atomic Energy(which would have been the answer to Dumsor), Free Education from Primary 1 to University, The numerous Seconday schools built, Ghana Airways, State Farms, Free Medical Care and Free prescription. Tell me, which government has done even a tenth of what he did? Sure we had money then but he put it to use selflessly. Other governments would have looted all that money with nothing to show for it. Note also that governments after him have sold all the aforementioned assets to themselves for peanuts. BTW what happened to all the State Hotels Nkrumah built?

He was not a saint but he was his brother's keeper by coining the slogan 'comrade' . He built the Akosombo Dam and even supplied electric power to neighboring countries , he constructed the motorway , that Afrifa and his cronies described as ostentatious,a legacy folks ,that is still evident , he even built "Job 600 "that gave so many Ghanaians their ever sight of a tall building . A lot of Ghanaians ,especially our Northern brothers can boast of academic credentials by grace of Nkrumaizm. A lot of us benefited from numerous scholarships that were awarded through the scholarship secretariat then headquartered at the Statehouse . Proff ! Forget about your family wealth ! I bet you benefited directly or indirectly from Nkrumah's legacy because all smart children of cocoa farmers gained something from Ghana Cocoa marketing board. , the farmers council , young pioneers and many more . All legacies of the un saintly Nkrumah.
