As for Rawlings, all the hue and cry about fighting and eliminating 'kalabule' and corruption was nothing but a wily subterfuge. P.V.Obeng and known paupers like the Ahwoi brothers, just to mention a few, metamorphosed into millionaires under Rawlings watch. Rawlings himself has never been able to proclaim with the charactetistic pride, arrogance and glee, his "fast-track rags to riches" story. Instead he hand-picked men and women, some of them butchers and hairdressers who had absolutely no knowledge about Constitutional Law to write the Fourth Republican Constitution with the infamous Indemnity Clause surreptitiously smuggled into it to protect Rawlings and his gang of murderers and looters from any future prosecution. Rawlings is like the ISIS murderers who behead innocent journalists while hooded in black and with the rest of the body covered in black. Who is Rawlings hiding from and why does he need to be indemnified? He accuses everyone of corruption but himself. Let us remove the IC from the constitution and prosecute him for alleged corruption charges and set the standard for future prosecutions for no one is above the law. Right now, we may be able to enjoy dumping loads of insults on him, if we hate his guts. But we should not make it NPP's prerogative to seek any penalties for his role in the Military Juntas that preceded his Presidency.
I have said elsewhere, that the Indemnity Clause should have been constructed to apply, restrictively, to only the Coup days. Anything else that any President would have done illegally thereafter could then be considered for legal action.
NPP should focus on how to win the Presidency. Anything like digging the grave to expose dead Political problems would distract the Party off course.
Allowing our Presidents to enjoy permanent immunity from Prosecution is a huge disincentive for them to govern with any accountability. So long as they could finish their 4-year term without fear of Coup or Prosecution for some horrible crime against the State, they would always get away with Corruption.

The Question about the Indemnity Clause can only be settled in Parliament. It could have been strongly featured in the proposed Constitutional Review. However, we must be very careful not to overshoot ourselves in demanding its abrogation before its intended purpose has been fully served.
To many who are craving for vengeance, the Indemnity Clause should not have been inserted into the Constitution. But what so conveniently forget is that it was put in there for a very important reason. If the Kufuor Administration and the majority NPP Parliament that accompanied his rule did not see any use for the Indemnity Clause, it would moved to immediately retire it. Many who are too young to know anything first-hand about how we came to have the Indemnity Clause must not rush to kill it. They would have to sufficiently research on its purpose and conduct relevant surveys to ensure that purpose has been fully served.
Surely, the Indemnity Clause will not and should not be a permanent part of our Constitution. But its withdrawal must be preceded by a carefully evaluated research to establish we have an opportune time to do so.
I have always maintained that as much as most of us would agree the pre-Fourth Republic era was fraught with lots of illegal activities by various Administrations, we must not just on a whim rush to seek vengeful remediation. In fact, some of the atrocities would have to be conceded to the past and their special circumstances that constitute a certain chaotic era of our Nationhood. The mere memories of many instances of horror and brutalities could be disturbing to many a virgin soul. But given the cyclical retributive character of our political struggle of that era, we ought to be very cautious not to resurrect a frankenstein while we may not have what it takes to take a full control of its behavior.
It is probably good enough to have the freedom to talk about those bad memories, and question our collective responsibility in the occurrence of the acts comprising them, at least, to keep us away from falling into that swamp again. But it may not be in the Nation's best interest EVER to reach back to seek revenge.
Sometimes, we just have to let Providence decide the fate of those who did us wrong. God has His way of smoothing up the rough edges of Societies. We only have to let Him by employing his gift of deeper wisdom for mutual survival.

And all this deception hidden behind his propaganda of "probity and accountability" was sustained by one thing and one thing only.Rawlings purged the security forces of people he hated or people he perceived as threat and must be suppresed at all cost, especially Akans. Indeed, this is not about politics. It is more to do with treating the people of Ghana with honesty and dignity. Here is a man who accused people of a certain crime supposedly he alone perceived. Then condemned them to death without a proper trial at the court of law. Besides, there are several others that he directly or indirectly was responsible for their death following their arrest, torture and unlawful confiscation of their hard earned property.
Yet, this same man committed corruptible crime on a humongous scale and cleverly or rather cowardly enough protected himself with a certain 'indemnity clause'. He thinks he is the cleverest in the country which explains why he insults almost everyone, even academics like the late Prof. Mills (who knows whether he orchestrated his death).
Indeed, it is sad that in the eyes of some Ghanaians this murderer remains a hero. It is time to do away with politics and tribal differences and tell the plain truth. Ghana needs honest, clever and bold people like Atiemo to confront this murderer and criminal Rawlings and perhaps make him pay for his crime.

The endemic corruption in the country didnt start by JJ. The concept of coup d'tat to ouster Nkrumah from office prematurely is the result of the pain and suffering enduring by all Ghanaian s. JKF is directly or indirectly involved in the overthrown of Nkrumah, living Ghana in a half way journey to the land of opportunity. Blaming JJ for what did or didnt isnt a solution to Ghana's problem. The reality is that, our nation is not competitive enough in part of internal weakness.
