Kuffour was the candidate whose track record, utterences, composure, temperament, and general "aura" captivated many floating voters. Those who did not identify with NPP or NDC. The Kuffour feeling and the positive change it exhuded was infec tious. The Genle giant was really a gentle giant, he knew not how to insult or talk back when provoked.I don't know, but I just liked the guy. And he was candid. However Nana Addo is the exact opposite of Kuffour. Where kuffour lacked in aggression, Nana Addo overcompensated with confrontation and violence. There are numerous examples to illustrate this point. The people around Akuffo Addo speaks volumes of the man himself. So when you put all these together, the result is what happened at the elctions of 2008 and 2012.

The verdict was so decisive that it was not surprising that the npp had decided not to ask for a review.I am sure we will learn more from the opinion of the judges when their written judgement is out and what it entails.
The latest posture by Akufo Addo is only face saving after having put the country through a period of uncertainties and tension which could have destabilized the country.The whole exercise was unfortunate because with a cool head the waste of our time could have been averted but for one man's ego.Now that the the highest court of the land had spoken lets bury our differences for the sake of Ghana.Never had one man's ego and arrogance cause so much tension.

All the 9 judges voted against the serial number of the pink sheet having any significant impact on the election and I agree with that. What amused me was that ATUGUBA,GBEDEGBE and 3 others dismissed all SIX PETITIONERS claims including the OVER VOTING which AFARI GYAN himself accepted that fact when testifying at the supreme court.
The reason for the verdict is still not available . We are all waiting for it but if these are the kind of JUDGES we have at the Supreme Court then we are doomed as a country.
The only arm of government in Ghana we presume, assume and pray to be independent is the Judiciary. We all know our Legislative arm of government is rubber stamp as they dingle with the Executive hand of government.
If the Executive hand of government can manipulate the Judiciary then we are doom as a nation.
Only God knows what went on and why 5 judges saw nothing concrete about the petitioners case while 4 judges voted the fact that at least 3 of the Petitioners claim holds water.
Let wait for the reason of the verdict to be out then we can bisect and dissect it but as at now ,yesterday was the SUPREME COURT OF GHANA DAY OF SHAME and 5 of the Judges should bow their head in shame.
Anyway long live Ghana after all we have our peace.

You could see that the judges were unprepared. After waiting from 9 am or so and with the whole world watching 9 eminent judges take 5 minutes to deliver judgement. Is it THAT they could not write a short English of say THREE or FIVE pages or what? If there could be a way of removing them from the BENCH it should be done. I am not talking about the decision. I am saying that the delivery was substandard.

You write an incisive analysis of what I always thought was the pimple-buttocked elephant in the room; that Akuffo Addo used the absence of a challenge threshold in our constitution to further his selfish plan to launder his humiliating electoral loss through the courts. Hoping to come out smelling like a half-assed statesman.
He fooled no one. But it is incumbent upon us to make sure the history books and records don't hoodwink our future generations into glitzing up this greedster's mischief.
He should also be made to pay up the legal costs of the respondents and the economic loss to the state for taking us hostage for 8 months, not to mention derailing a fifth of the duration of Prez Mahama's presidency.
This whole needless roller coaster irks me to no end. It sets a bad precedent where no constitutionally stipulated challenge threshold means that a candidate losing by 90% can decide to tie us up in legal and economic knots for months.

Bear in mind though that those promises that he made to Ghanaians on the political platforms are not unique to him alone but are indeed the stock-in-trade of all politicians the worls over who want political power from the people come election time. You have to bear in mind that the 2012 Presidential elections were still close and that Akufo-Addo still has quite a following in the country. I think what needs to happen is for the electorate to demand issues-based political campaigns. This however requires some degree of literacy - an area where most developing countries fall short because of the high degree of illiteracy. When it comes to voter turn-out though, we seem to be more engaged as voters than even some of the advanced countries and that bodes well for our developing democracy. fact of the matter is that come 2016, the voters will have the chance once again to evaluate the extent to which Mahama has fulfilled his promises. As long as we use the ballot box fairly and freely, we will be on our way to incremental. civilised progress. One important import of the dismissal of the NPP petition by the Supreme court, will be to nip in the bud any repetitive cycle of sore losers resorting to legal shenanigans to acquire political power instead of winning at the polls. In this regards, Ghana has once again shown the way for the rest of Africa. Let us all join in finding practical solutions to our development issues without partisanship and divisiveness.
