Where did you prove that the serial numbers reduced Nana's votes in a single poling station where the voting was freely done and counted openly to the hearing of your agents there. It was the copies of the pink sheets all parties including the NPP received from party agents and collated the votes at their own headquarters. They then compared the vote counts with those of the Electoral Commission. NPP said some votes were taken from Nana and give to President Mahama only to present a different set of allegations to the Supreme Court. You can not lie to Ghanaians and the international observers that your flag bearer was cheated in any single polling station or that someone voted more than once. You posted this trash as if you had some legal basis for serial numbers. Mr Addison failed to convince the judges that serial numbers are specially important in our previous elections where NPP won twice through J.A. Kuffour.Go now and lick your wounds as a party of 'patapa'.

Reuters conclusion was fair but the source of some of their information was flawed.Even from the article it is obvious that from the analysis the respondents are expected to win hands down.

Nyansaem, I from what I observed, I was convinced that the petitioners did not prove the various allegations, except the inconsistencies on pink sheets. However, I am still not sure what weight the Justices will put on such inconsistencies. They could say they amounted to statutory violations, omissions and irregularities but did not affect the outcome or did. I still cannot tell.
I am also more interested in how the Justices will interpret the constitutional right to vote versus No Biometric Verification, No Vote and missing signatures on pink sheets. Again, I do not know how the Justices will apply the law. I am interested in that area because that would be the crust of the matter and a major constitutional development in Ghana. Though I concluded in one of my earlier articles on the election petition that, the No Biometric Verification, No Vote was unconstitutional, I am not even a lawyer let alone a constitutional one.
Whatever verdict reached by the Justices, I will only be happy or dissatisfied after I have read the written decision, which must be sound, supported by the law and customary practice (case law). Let's wait till we see, hear and read the verdict, the analysis, the public's verdict, etc.

The decision of the wise judges should be such as to stop any further future attempts by arrogant sore losers to disturb the electoral peace of our democracy. While admitting to the ample room for improvement in the electoral process, the sovereignty of our nation is underpinned by the free choice of its peoples and not through any attempt at using legal loopholes and shenanigans to come to power through the backdoor. Our parliament should be able to enact electoral laws that that fix the lapses found in the past. This could have been done through the elected representatives without holding the nation to ransom with a legal suit at the highest court. Akufo-Addo and his cabal really represent a real and present danger to the stability of our democracy and they should not trick us into believing that this egomaniacal trip to the highest court was meant to bring about positive changes to our democracy. ACCRA (Reuters) - Ghana's Supreme Court is expected this week to reject an opposition challenge to President John Mahama's victory in last year's close-fought election, legal and political experts said on Wednesday.
The decision, due by Thursday, will end months of legal wrangling that has gripped the cocoa, gold and oil-exporting nation, one of Africa's brightest economic growth prospects that has built a reputation for political stability.
Mahama won the December election with 50.7 percent of the vote and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) launched a Supreme Court challenge, alleging fraud ranging from inflated tallies to the participation of unregistered voters.
The court's nine-member panel can either validate Mahama's win or order a re-run. Few expect violence either way.
"It will be a 7-2 (split) decision, or at worse 6-3 in favor of Mahama," said Seth Gyekye, a political analyst at the Accra-based Futures think-tank.
Gyekye said evidence provided by the NPP party suggested the need for better training for election workers rather than a reversal of the result.
Ghana is home to one of Africa's fastest growing economies and is expected to see 8 percent economic growth in 2013.
However, the need to hold another vote would be a blow to efforts to control its budget deficit, which ballooned to 12.1 percent during the 2012 election year, nearly twice the target.
Mahama took over as president last year when incumbent John Atta Mills died in office. The smooth transition reinforced Ghana's reputation for political maturity in a region better known for its coups and violent post-election crises.
Voting in the 2012 poll was fraught with delays after hundreds of newly-introduced electronic fingerprint readers failed.
The non-partisan Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), which had more than 4,000 people across the country, said the vote had been generally free and fair.
Margaret Boateng, a lawyer and human rights advocate, said she believed the evidence presented in court left no other option but to re-run the vote.
However, a senior lawyer who has followed the case but asked not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter, said the opposition argument had most probably failed to convince the court.
"The status quo is likely to remain because the opposition only proved their case to some extent, but not enough to reverse last year's declaration by the electoral commission," he said.
Experts say calls for radical election reforms are inevitable.
Ghana's police force has been readied to deal with trouble, but few anticipate problems on the scale of the crisis that gripped neighboring Ivory Coast, where a contested 2010 election led to post-election violence that killed 3,000.
Both Mahama and Nana Akufo-Addo pledged to accept the ruling and have asked their followers to do same.

If there should be a re-run what is the guarantee that it will be flawless not to attract another petition from the loser? And who will organise it? A new EC to be appointed by whom? The confusion that this will bring is just too much.
To declare Akufo Addo the winner of the 2012 election will create even more confusion. It is like a candidate rejecting the low marks the examiners gave him, did his own marking by awarding himself huge marks to declare himself "passed with distinction".
The EC who is the rightful authority to declare who wins an election, declared Mahama winner. Akufo Addo rejected it, compiled his own polling results after annulling millions of valid votes from where his opponent won and went to the Supreme Court to declare him the winner. He had no problem with the vote counts as declared by the EC. His problem was that, the presiding officers did not sign some of the polling sheets, some of the polling sheets had identical serial numbers, some of the polling sheet records implied there were over voting and some of the polling stations were ghost stations so he wanted the millions of votes from these places to be cancelled. It would be a travesty of justice for such a person to get a favourable verdict. It will mean that, in any subsequent election in Ghana all that you have to do to win is to influence the presiding officers to make clerical errors in recording the polling results particularly in the polling stations you are sure you cannot win.
The only way that is sound is for the petition to dismissed. I am even praying for a 9-0 verdict to show that the Judges were not confused at all. Their decisiveness will be good for peace because it will not encourage the loser to attempt a review.

The SC CANNOT SIMPLY CANCEL MILLIONS OF VOTES CAST BY LEGITIMATE VOTERS in order to make Akufo Addo president! It'd be pure madness on their part even if they are among the uncivilised, sorry, I mean developing Ghanaian population and so expected to behave as not civilised!!!
Perhaps, it is cos some of us grew up reading court records kept by our grandfathers or fathers and law books by our siblings or parents that make us discerning in these matters, even though we didn't read law. Of course, we had sat in the same lecture halls with those who read law and took some electives with them and so are not befuddled by legal matters. That's why I said from the very beginning that the case is a frivolous one without merit. Had Afari Gyan listened to the petitioners for 2 days, shown them copies of original returns which were signed while their copies weren't and explained sources of the discrepancies they were worried about, instead of brushing them aside and telling them arrogantly to go to court, I bet they wouldn't have gone to court to challenge his announced decision. That's why I am advocating the enactment of a CI suspending the EC from announcing the winner in a challenged poll for a maximum of 5 days while the dispute is looked at by the EC, party reps and a high court judge. After that, the result must be declared and anyone still aggrieved can go to court. We MUST NEVER be put through this spectacle again, ever!

You are right on this part. I can't understand why certain things are done in Ghana. It seems every educated person in position becomes too big to be corrected or even talk to. Now, Afari Gyan will resigned forced to resign as a disgraced Commissioner because of his own folly.
In advanced countries, an application is accepted as long as it is sumitted before the deadline and the fees paid for. But that is not what happened to Konadu, and it was at that time I realized that we are deal with an arrogant man when Afari Gyan asked Konadu to take him to court.
Yes, he shouldn't have asked them to go to court. What he needed to do was to wait and see their evidence because this was the first time, we were using biometric verification. Listening to them should not have taken as bending the rules or changing the outcome, but rather learning something for himself and the EC to make the necessary correction for a change. So Atuguba was right to tell him, he should stop his "go to court, go to court."
I know one thing for sure. Even though they will not come down hard on him tomorrow, every one of the judges will agree that he did not do well in organizing the election. And this is the job this man has done for 20 yrs and yet so many errors, untrained staff while still running around creating new constituencies 3 months before election. The 45 more constituencies he created will be costing over 5 million GHC every year in salaries alone and yet, some think we don't have to criticize him because he has organized election since Rawlings time.
- Election reforms is needed.
- Change of Election date needs to be looked into. It is too close to the Inauguration date.
- Time to file petition and how long the judges need to decide the case is also important. It should not be more than a month and it should be done before Inauguration date.
- Change in the constitution to scrap review after Supreme court ruling on election petition.
- And yes, the EC commissioner should be given a week to analyze the results and sit down with complainers before announcing the final results.
Africans love mediocrity. It is time we changed and strive for the best.

There is a system where all people involved in that matter are called or at least their spokesmen in this case their lawyers are called to testify on their behalf. The court needs time to analyze all the evidences tendered in by both parties. After this, then we have people who we call JUDGES, their work is to critically look into all these EVIDENCES and then based on the RULE OF LAW, they can say that you have won and the other has lost again it is based on all the evidences they have carefully gone through. That is why sometimes, people have very solid cases but because of lack of CREDIBLE EVIDENCE they still lose in court and sometimes others don't understand. That's why it is always good to have the BEST LAWYER, because with skillful lawyers sometimes you may not even have a good case but due to the way they present it with all the evidence they will garner in support of their case, they still emerge as the VICTORIOUS. So what I am saying to you is this: THE SC IS ONLY GOING TO DECIDE ON THIS CASE SOLELY BASED ON THE EVIDENCE THAT THEY HAVE AND UPON WHICH THEY APPLY THE RULE OF LAW TO AND COME UP WITH A DECISION.
