It Is A Disgrace And Abhorrent That Ursula Owusu Is In Parliament- Sam George

A member of the Communication team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel George has asked the august house of parliament to be strict with its disciplinary measures for its members.

According to him, some of the members of the sixth Parliament do not belong to the house; “their rightful place is in a zoomlion’s estate, because they are so full of garbage and bring nothing constructive to the development of the motherland.”

Taking a swipe at Hon. Ursula Owusu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma West, he said looking at various comments she has been making, she does not deserve to be in Parliament.

“I would refuse vehemently to refer to her as honourable, because I still believe that it is a travesty of natural justice that she is in parliament. Ursula Owusu, you go and stand on a public platform and insult the president of the republic, after taking an oath to defend the constitution?, Denigrate state institutions and call the president a thief...and she wants us to call her honourable,” he retorted.

Samuel George who also doubles as a youth activist was speaking on the backdrop that Hon. Ursula Owusu made some ‘derogatory remarks’ at the launch of ‘Let My Vote Count’; a group that is embarking on a campaign to rally for support for the election petition that is before the Supreme Court.

Speaking as a panelist on "Alhaji and Alhaji", a current affairs programme on Radio Gold, Samuel George asserted: “Why would anybody who wants to be part of a ruling government say such a thing; worst of all a member of parliament. There are some people who have mistakenly found themselves in that august house."

"This is a call to the leadership of parliament; parliament must cease to behave like a secret cult and behave like a group of people whose salaries are paid with my taxes...When a parliamentarian goes wrong parliament must discipline its own. Parliament must call its errands and laconic members to order...It is sad, shameful, disgraceful and abhorrent that somebody like Ursula Owusu who finds herself in parliament and from parliament go onto a platform as derogatory as the 'let my vote count' platform is and insult the sitting president, insult our institutions of state call them thieves without any shred of evidence,” he said angrily.
