This is a welcome statement, a word in season from the Methodist Church.
However, how can the President even begin to unite the country when the main opposition party is not prepared to co-operate with his peace initiatives, and some elements in the party question his legitimacy?
President Mahama earlier on said he wanted to call together the party leaders for consultations fairly soon with a view to such regular meetings as a step to easing tensions and fostering national unity. How can he do this with the election petition before the Supreme court and with the NPP adopting such an unco-operative, disruptive attitude?
