Francis Adomako has won the Ashanti Regional Secretary race of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), securing 492 votes at the party’s regional elections held at the Kumasi Jubilee Park on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Adomako beat two other contenders in the race, with Michael Amoah Awuku polling 331 votes and Paul Yandoh, the outgoing Regional Director of Communications, securing 105 votes.
A video circulating on social media showed supporters of Francis Adomako spraying powder on him as they celebrated his victory.
Paul Yandoh has also been captured on camera looking disappointed following the outcome of the election.

Meanwhile, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Asanteman Coka, has been elected the new Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP.
Coka secured a decisive victory, defeating his closest contender, Dr Henry Kokofu, by more than 400 votes.
