A member of the NPP Communications Team, Kwadwo Poku, has criticised Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, over his conduct during the recent Public Accounts Committee sitting in Parliament.

His comments follow Monday’s exchange between Sam George and PAC Chairperson Abena Osei-Asare during discussions on telecom infrastructure expansion and service delivery.

Speaking on Joy News, monitored by MyNewsGh, Kwadwo Poku argued that the minister approached the committee session with the wrong attitude and failed to show respect for parliamentary structures.

“When Sam George went there, he had a premeditated mindset,” he said.

According to him, regardless of Sam George’s status as both a minister and Member of Parliament, he was still expected to respect the authority of the committee chair.

“If you enter Parliament and there’s a chairman of a committee, that chair sits as a committee of Parliament. Even if you’re an MP, you should respect that structure,” he stated.

Kwadwo Poku claimed many Ghanaians who watched clips from the sitting believed the minister’s conduct came across as arrogant.

“The public have watched what happened. Everybody is of the opinion that he was very disrespectful,” he added.

He further suggested that if the minister later reflected on the incident, he might eventually apologise for his conduct.
