The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has issued a stern warning regarding the recent spate of fire outbreaks in state institutions, calling for rigorous investigations to rule out deliberate sabotage.
Addressing party supporters and residents in the Bolgatanga East constituency as part of his ongoing nationwide "Thank You" tour, the NDC Chairman expressed deep suspicion over the timing and frequency of these incidents.
He drew parallels between current events and fires that occurred in the years 2000 and 2016, suggesting a recurring, calculated pattern.
"We must investigate every fire outbreak that happens in any state institution to rule out sabotage.
"These occurrences are eerily similar to what happened in the years 2000 and 2016. We cannot afford to remain passive when state property is being destroyed under suspicious circumstances," Asiedu Nketiah stated firmly.
The NDC chairman alleged that these fires might be part of an orchestrated scheme to trigger artificial power crises popularly known in Ghana as 'Dumsor' to undermine the current administration or manipulate public sentiment.
"The devil will be exposed for any intentional sabotage aimed at creating artificial 'Dumsor' to sabotage the government and the peace of this nation," he declared. "We are watching, and we will not allow these tactics to go unchallenged."
Asiedu Nketiah seized the moment to rally his party members and the general public, urging them to remain vigilant and proactive.
He emphasised that the protection of state assets is a collective responsibility that transcends political lines.
"I am calling on all our party members and all Ghanaians to open their eyes widely.
"We must be the watchdogs of our own institutions. If you see something, say something. We cannot allow those who wish to see this country fail to manipulate our national infrastructure for their own narrow, malicious agendas," he urged.
The Bolgatanga East rally, which drew a large crowd of supporters, served as a platform for the National Chairman to reinforce the NDC’s stance on accountability and governance.
The tour, aimed at expressing gratitude to the party’s grassroots for their performance in recent political activities, has also become a vehicle for the NDC leadership to critique the government’s management of national resources and energy infrastructure.
