The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Stephen Amoah, popularly known as Sticka, has strongly asserted that politics in Ghana has turned into an enterprise, arguing that neither the NDC nor the NPP is genuinely committed to transforming the country.
Speaking in an interview on Angel FM, the MP said that, by his observation, he is not sure that even 10% of politicians from both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who are actively involved in politics genuinely want to see the betterment and development of the country.
In his view, most politicians from the two major parties enter politics with the aim of acquiring wealth.
He argued that many focus on securing government appointments to afford luxury, including buying houses and cars, rather than having the intention to make a positive impact on the country.

“Politics has become an enterprise. From my observation, I’m not convinced that even 10% of politicians, whether NDC or NPP, are genuinely interested in developing the country; many are driven more by personal gain, seeking to afford their own homes, cars, and taking women to Dubai,” he said.
Sticka, who is affiliated with the NPP, said he believes his party is better than the NDC, but maintained that both parties have their challenges.
He added that he considers the NPP relatively better in some respects due to its social intervention policies in Ghana.
He further argued that despite nearly 35 years of alternating political power between the two parties, neither has established strong research institutions capable of identifying the country’s major problems and developing long-term strategies to address them.
According to him, key issues such as unemployment and exchange rates, among others, lack dedicated institutional focus, with no structured body consistently researching and proposing strategic development plans to tackle these challenges in the long term.
