Veteran Ghanaian actor Agya Koo has announced the formation of a new political movement, the Ghana First Party, aimed at reshaping the country’s political landscape.
He described the initiative as a coalition that seeks to provide an alternative to the dominance of the two major parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on the vision behind the party in an interview with the media, Agya Koo emphasised that all sixteen regions are preparing to contribute to the establishment of Ghana First.
He explained that the movement is designed to prioritize the needs of ordinary citizens, particularly traders, while also promoting tourism and development across the country.
“We all know that the two biggest political parties in the country, the NPP and the NDC, always dominate the political space. As a result, if not NPP then NDC will win power. That is why we have thought about it to bring a third force to compete with them. We are bringing a party that thinks about the traders, a party that can bring tourism and all developments,” he stated.
Agya Koo, who is widely recognised for his contributions to Ghana’s film industry, has previously been associated with the NPP.
