An unidentified woman believed to be a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has given a detailed breakdown of items allegedly received by delegates during the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries on February 7, 2026.
In a viral video, she alleged that, “Before receiving 32-inch television sets from Baba Jamal, other aspirants had already given out cash amounting to GH¢5,000, Kivo Gari, Cowbell Coffee, sanitary pads, ice chests, and half-pieces of fabric.”

Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the formation of a three-member committee to investigate claims of inducement and vote-buying during the primaries.
“In line with the party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency, and ethical political conduct, the Committee will investigate the allegations and make appropriate recommendations, including sanctions where necessary,” the NDC stated.

The NDC said the committee’s mandate will also include recommending sustainable measures and reforms to prevent inducement and vote-buying in internal elections.
Baba Jamal emerged the winner of the tightly contested primary, receiving 431 votes. His closest rival, Hajia Amina Adam, secured 399 votes.
During the primaries, reports emerged that Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed allegedly distributed television sets and boiled eggs to delegates.
Baba Jamal, however, maintains that the distribution of items was an act of goodwill and not intended to influence delegates’ decisions.
