You are entitled to your opinion. The 4 years is too short a time for meaningful governance. 1st year for appointments and planning, 2nd and 3rd years are for real governance and 4th year is nothing but electioneering campaign. This cycle is for any gov't so 5 years is very ideal.

1. The appointing power of the president be reduced
2. The CJ, IGP, EC, CHRAJ, OSP, etc shouldn't be appointed by the president.
3. CEOs of state enterprises should not be politicians
4. MMDCEs/Regional Ministers should be elected
5. Metro/Mun/dist should be given powers to look for resources(internally or externally) to develop their areas and reduce the over dependents of Central Government.
6. Strengthen accountability of public institutions.
7. Article 71 appointees must be removed. Salaries/emoluments should be rationalized. Why will an Army officer senior judges retire on full salaries while others retire on virtually meagre pension?
8. Abolish the ex-gratia
Cap the number of staff at some state institutions. Cocoa Board has over 2000 staff, doing what? No wonder it's struggling.

I strongly agree with you Sir. The four years mandate for presidential term is already too much time for a president to turn things around. Thanks

Our governance system is not a case of starting and restarting, which requires time to settle. It is one of continuity. The political parties have four years plus a renewable term of another four. That makes eight years which is ample time to deliver. It is easy to determine by the first two to four years whether a party can perform so that the electorate can remove or vote the party to continue. If the same party wins a second term, it does not need time to readjust. It hits the ground running after being declared a winner. For new political parties assuming power for the first time, they must have followed the trend over the years and come prepared. Our political history shows that the parties are too vulnerable and cannot be trusted. So there is no need for extension to five years. Else for five years, a bad government would collapse the country beyond recovery.
WELL SAID!!
