During that time too they will be weak and cannot do the strenuous work demanded for kids of that age let alone fast along. This issue can lead to a breakdown in school discipline with time, in the schools with strict regimens (lights out and dining), if it’s not properly managed, as it may require additional efforts and resources. In my “O” Level school, for instance, which is catholic, there was no segregation by any means in the dormitories, and lights out (9:30pm — 5:30am) was compulsory and strictly observed by everybody. We thus had eight solid hours of uninterrupted sleep, with some siestas after lunch. It was strictly compulsory, except the sick, for everyone to be present and partake in dining at the set times. Nobody was allowed to take food out of the dining hall, before, during nor after dining and neither was it allowed to be eaten in the dormitories. In fact, no school/dining hall plate or bowl was allowed in the dormitories, nor personal plate or bowl allowed in the dining hall. School life was regimented for all, towards a desirable goal and it was somewhat easy for the authorities to manage. Exceptions to these regimens may therefore be seen as preferential or discriminatory by students outside that group and they may as such find ways to break the rules. It may also be a little strenuous for the authorities to manage this different groups of students effectively and may end up affecting the desired goals.

My “A” Level school, a public school, on the other hand, was somewhat a free rein to my dislike as compared to my previous (“O” Level catholic) school, although I was not a catholic.

My take on this issue, therefore, is to either:
(1) provide a separate boardinghouse or dormitories at a distance from the rest, preferably outside the school boundary or fence, and dining times for the muslims. Some schools even have boardinghouses/hostels outside the school premises, but managed “privately” by the school authorities;

(2) Muslims who cannot cope with the boardinghouse and dining hall rules should opt to be day students. Which most of the muslims in my “O” Level catholic school were by preference and choice. However, some too were boarders by choice, and even though I did not see them pray or notice how and when they coped with the school’s strict regimens (lights out and dining), I sometimes saw them with their prayer mats and beads, and they did not break any school rule because of that. In fact being a muslim in the school was never an issue.

As for Ghana, we normally argue without accurate information.

That's why we're always used by politics and politicians.

Now, the president has spoken but it doesn't mean much. The supreme court is yet to speak.

The court can be influenced to support the plaintiff but it won't also mean much--Christianity can't be destroyed by a verdict in favor of the Muslims.

From my observation, the Church normally grows under persecution, unfavorable conditions, etc.

So this issue is already a sign that the Church is going to grow soon. In fact, a verdict in favor of the plaintiff is going to hasten that growth.

So, leave the president alone and don't bother much about the supreme court.

In this instance, it is the responsibility of the judiciary to interpret the law and address any gaps that may exist within the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Premature political commentary risks influencing public perception and undermining confidence in due process.

A Muslim pupil has lost a High Court challenge against a ban on prayer rituals at a high-achieving north London school.

The student, took legal action against Michaela Community School, claiming the policy was discriminatory and “uniquely” affected her faith due to its ritualised nature.

The Judge dismissed the pupil’s arguments against the prayer rituals ban.

The High Court ruled the ban was both proportionate and justified and that Miss Katherine should be allowed to enforce the school's secular ethos.

Reacting to the ruling, Miss Katherine said:

“A school should be free to do what is right for the pupils it serves.”

“The court’s decision is therefore a victory for all schools.”

“Schools should not be forced by one child and her mother to change its approach simply because they have decided they don’t like something at the school.”

The school, founded and led by headteacher Katharine Birbalsingh, argued its prayer policy was justified after it faced death and bomb threats linked to religious observance on site.

Miss Katharine said:

There were good reasons for the ban. Just over a year ago, a group of Muslim pupils started praying in the school playground at lunch times.

When teachers tried to rein in the practice, they were abused. Glass bottles were tossed over the school railings.

A brick was thrown through one teacher's window. Staff were reported to have been left ‘fearing for their lives’.

Ms Katherine and the teacher were targeted with death threats, abuse and allegations of Islamophobia.

The Muslim student suing Michaela is being backed by £150,000 in legal-aid money.

In a statement, she also questioned why the Muslim pupil received '£150,000 in legal aid' to fight her case.

It is shameful that public money is being wasted trying to take down a highly successful school.

She asked: 'Can it be right for a family to receive £150,000 of taxpayer-funded legal aid to bring a case like this?

After claiming victory, Miss Birbalsingh said: 'If parents do not like what Michaela is, they do not need to send their children to us.'

Katherine said in a statement:

There is a false narrative that some try to paint about Muslims being an oppressed minority at our school.

'They are, in fact, the largest group. Those who are most at risk are other minorities.’

I'll carry on fighting to defend our way of life. If parents don't like it, their children can go elsewhere.

No. No, it isn’t. If religion is such a big deal for the plaintiff, send your child to a religious school. Secular schools should not have to cater to mythology. And the fact that taxpayers were forced to subsidize this nonsense is a gross misuse of public funds.
