Yesterday my name change was published and gazetted. I'm now known and called Professor Kwabena Trumu. I have thus added Professor to my name; I will soon update my personal information with the National Identification Authority.

If the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has any objection to my professorial status they can go to court.

Degrees are awarded to people based on the successful completion of academic program of study; or the candidate has contributed through publications and development of knowledge that their contributionis worthy of an award, or the person has contributed financially to the University whose effect has enhanced the pursuit of knowledge.

GTEC remeber Universities and Colleges need money to run and operate smoothly, Universities need money to fund research projects. This is an undeniable fact.
Therefore if a person is awarded an honorary Doctorate why can't the person unse it.

One thiing that has to be done is to reclassify the Doctorate degree.
Why don't you suggest they use the title Honorary Doctor.
You see in other fields we have MD for medical doctor, Pharm D for pharmacist, JD for Juris Doctor, APhD for academic doctor.
Please be creative and be problem solvers instead of causing confusion.
Step out of your comfort zone and be creative.

If they ask you to convince them or proof that indeed the title was awarded by going through the process in a recognised university. If they see that you were awarded by a university then the regulator takes it
from there. These checks and balances are very necessary to flush out unscrupulous people with
the title Dr. If you don't qualify the tittle why forcing
yourself to be called a Dr? The legacy you leave behind is important than titles.

The tile "Doctor" or "Professor" simply means someone is an expert in a particular field. I can be an experienced farmer and people may nickname me as "Prof". I have the right to use that nickname as my brand name because that what I am widely known for.

An example is "Professor Hindu", the popular Ghanaian magician back in the days. The "professor" is his brand name. That doesn't mean some university has conferred that title on him.

GTEC should stop harassing people who are using these titles for branding purposes. Afterall, they haven't gone to any university to seek a teaching job which this qualification is needed.

Ayariga is a disgrace to all people from the North. Ayariga didnot get a score of 1 in any of his 'O' Level subjects.He and his whole family used other peoples documents to claim their intelligence. He has never seen a PhD certificate but keeps imagining he has one. He is not the only one. It is pathetic that most Ghanaians have joined this liars club. This is why we are retrogressing. The GTEC should also investigate the flood of fraudulent professors who are teaching in our universities. We have had these universities for over fifty years and we have had no improvement made on our own terms but have to rely on foreign research to improve our own lives. Nkrumah must be restless in his grave because his short reign in GHANA IS MORE memorable than seventy years post independence. With our current leadership I pray for my motherland.YEN
