Good! Bokassa Is To Blame! Not the gods!

Alas, the restlessness of the men and women of the NPP to account for their battering in the elections -- generating some wild theories and strange beliefs almost weekly -- has taken on a seemingly hopeful ending of sound and sense!

There's something remarkable worth mentioning about the report! It seems too rational-oriented and too truth-inclined to mirror the post-election trauma of irrationality and self-delusion that has characterised their behaviour so far. If there is one salient feature defining not only the relations within the party post-election but also the kinds of beliefs and theories being churned out by them to account for their abysmal electoral performance, it is madness! The madness -- and its attendant irrationality -- are in some parts as so insane and delirious-sounding as when a whole General Secretary of the party blames their electoral defeat on the gods (What is not clear, though, is if he was speaking symbolically, by which he meant one of the gods to be Nana Addo; which, if so, shouldn't be too far-fetched since by his stumpy physical stature, double-December-shaped head and shining baldness, he looks like a figurine in an African shrine!)

As rightly concluded by the report, the NPP's problem has all along been their then-leader, Nana Addo -- 'he, the short man god'; 'he who must be obeyed'; 'he, who can do wrong'; 'he, whom all chiefs must stand up to greet'; 'he, Ghana's Bokassa'; 'he, Ghana's Napoleon'!

Being one of the shortest men in the country, and the shortest ever head of state in Ghana's history, but, incredibly, bearing an ego and arrogance larger and bigger than all the chiefs in Ghana put together, he was too mentally short and emotionally inadequate to look upwards for governance standards to aspire to! Instead, he looked downwards for standards which he could do better than -- and feel taller than! But, since below him were no standards in Ghana's history worse than his then-on-going performance, yet he was too stubborn to change course, his continued, relentless downward-looking approach ended up running the nation aground, crashing a lot in the process -- crashing the economy; crashing the Cedi's standing in the exchange rate market; crashing the public audit and accountability system; crashing the integrity and trustworthiness of the judiciary and the justice delivery system; and many other crashings! He even crashed not only the confidence of the then-members of parliament of his party but also the chances of his party's doing well in the elections!

He came, he ruled, he crashed! That is what a Bokassa does!

Individuals like Gabby Otchere Darko and Osafo Marfo exacerbated the situation with their unnecessary and reckless statements, which even provoked NPP sympathizers. Nana Addo became increasingly arrogant, indifferent, and appeared helpless. At one point, it seemed like a conflict between the Akyems and the Ashantis, or rather, the Akyems were trying to reclaim some perceived lost status. Strong reforms are needed within the NPP, and we must never again tolerate the nonsense of the Akyem mafia.

IS this report different from what Mike Oquaye will produce? What if there are contradictions between the two reports? The flaw in this report is that it interviewed only party members. It is only the independent voters who can tell you the truth. Party members will just repeat the usual intra-party grievances and disagreements as the reason for the loss. The extent of the NPP loss is beyond the inactivity (even comprehension) of party members alone.
