As far as I am concerned, a tourist minister should be someone who can market the tourist industry. In many Asian and European countries, the tourist sector is a major source of income for the state. The question here is has she the capacity to revitalize the Ghana tourist industry. Just look at the poor state of the environment surrounding the Independence Arch in Accra. That whole area could be beautifully decorated to attract tourists but look at it. There are so many tourist sites across the country which needs improvement and upgrading. We are going to keep an eye on her to see what she can accomplish.

No wonder they all collapsed very early.

@Johnny. I don't think Ewes are worse than other ethnic groups in Ghana in their choice of Representatives. Ashantis voted massively for Akufo Addo and the NPP and we have all seen the outcomes of the Akufo Addo's Government.

She should visit Ethiopia, Senegal and Kenya and see how far these African countries have gone in promoting tourism in their respective countries. Our tourist sector is extremely underdeveloped. We have a long way to go in Ghana. A good road or rail infrastructure is a pre-condition for a vibrant tourist industry not to mention the quality of the hotels.

Dzifa is a very charming and friendly lady. My former girlfriend and I are Ashantis and Dzifa treated us very warmly just as she did to others from her ethnic groups. We know her from Medina.

The Ministry of Tourism is a multi-disciplinary ministry. In the sense that it should work closely with other ministries such as the Ministry of Health, Roads and Highways, Education, etc. etc. I hope the new Minister is aware of this and not see her role as just training people to go and dance for tourists on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport.

@Kwaku Yeboah. Practically all the Ministers appointed so far have graduated from Legon or some other University in Ghana. This is worrying because it is always good with exposure as it widens one's perspective and capacity to see outside the box. In a country where there is rot learning from primary to University level there is a likelihood that we will get leaders with no analytical capacity since they are not trained to think analytically nor logically but trained only to pass exams. In fact, the Akufo Addo's Government even went to the extent of acquiring past exam question papers for students to practice on. We need people from the diaspora with foreign experience and a different way of thinking to be part of the Government. Kwame Nkrumah became what he was because of his exposure to a different world. His years as a student in America transformed him as a person hence his zeal to liberate and transform Ghana rapidly.
