So where lies the falsehood in Ablakwa’s statement? MoFA would have done itself some good and retained credibility if they had informed Ghanaians of how much was accruing to the nation from visa fees prior to entering the contract and after the arrangement became operational. Many Ghanaians are quick to swallow whatever the government and its agents say. Ghanaians in general have a gullibility problem.

My UK born daughter recently had to endure absurd
“digital” form filling in London when she applied for a visa to visit me in Ghana, which took several hours to complete and submit. The data collected by the Indians whom the service has been outsourced to included a photocopy of my Ghanacard, which to me is an abuse and breach of my data protection. My written reference letter, including my digital residential address, phone number and email was not enough for the data miners who are disguised as visa application subcontractor. Why do they need a copy of my Ghanacard? Where will a foreign visitor get the Ghanacard of the owner of a hotel if they have to confirm their hotel booking to be able to get a Ghana visa?

The ministry is rather being mischievous. If Ablakwa failed to put out all the details and you are being transparent why didn't you tell us what is there to know. What is even shocking with the ministry's response is that they are not refuting the report but the details it failed to bring out. So are you not embarrassed by the whole thing. This government is indeed capturing the state. Remember the covid testing deal? Frontier health service? I bet they are going to use embassy staff to do the work and take money. If the company is already in the business why are you taking about equipment. This means it's a new entity just set up to milk ghana and visitors.

While MoFA is right in that Hon Ablakwa should have acknowledged the capital costs entailed the service contract, they’re equally wrong/mischievous in their response.
The value in outsourcing a service is that it allows you to focus on your core business, while an expert company provides the outsourced services in a more efficient manner that delivers cost savings versus running the service in-house.
In this MoFA has failed to explain or justify the value accrued from outsourcing the services. Rather, it has become much, much more expensive, with entailed very complicated processes for customers.
What we now have is a very expensive service to customers with reduced value. To pay for the contract, fees have increased by 100-200%. If ultimately it’s about delivering a service, the customers are being punished to the benefit of the contractor, with the possibility that somebody elsewhere is getting a cut of the profit or acquiring immense favours. In that, MoFA achieved no benefits for Ghana a their customers.
