Nominations for Standing for Elections as The President of GHANA
Candidate Eligibility: As Per Ghana’s Constitution.
(1) A person shall not be a candidate in a presidential election unless he is nominated for election as President —
(a) is signed by him; and
(b) is signed by not less than two persons who are registered voters resident in the area of authority of each district assembly;
2) Breakdown of Minimum Two (Registered Voters) per Each Assembly:
A. Signing the Presidential Candidate’s Document:
1) No Person that is APPOINTED by the president
i) Either as Minister / Deputy Minister of State
ii) Office of the President / Vice President (Presidential Staffer)
iii) Ambassador / High Commissioner
iv) Metropolitan, Municipal, or District Chief Executive
v) Board Chairman, nor a Candidate for Parliamentary Elections
2) Not be a Member of Parliament
3) Presents his/her own signed Bank Cheque in favour of the Electoral Commission to the tune of GHC25,000
Total Amount A Presidential Candidate gathers from 261 (districts including 145 ordinary districts, 109 municipal districts, and six metropolitan districts) of two (2) Sponsors each shall total GHC1.3m
