Kuffour was another corrupt and incompetent leader that some people tend to ignore, solely because those who came after him did worse, thus allowing his incompetence to pale in comparison.From the analysis above, Kuffour had the opportunity to put Ghana on a smooth road to recovery. However, getting to the end of his term, the quintessential NPP embarked on massive looting of the countries coffers and thus the benefits from the debt relief funds became negative. Mahama did not do better either. Allegations of inflating government spending have never been refuted by Mahama, and yet still, he wants to come back. Bawumia has led the economic team of the corrupt NPP led by incompetent Akkufo-Addo and wants to continue with the corrupt status quo. If Ghana politicians continue this trend without some serious structural changes for politicians to pay for the consequences of their actions, not even the whole world resources will get the country out of its present economic sinkhole. So Kuffour was not a saint, but a sneaky corrupt politician.

It was the Bretton Wood Institutions that ordered PNDC to abolish social welfare schemes in Ghana in 1987, including tap water for the poor in society, which is not the case in Bretton Wood in the U.S.
The did that to make PNDC unpopular, though the PNDC was makeup of both leftists and rightists in the Ghanaian society.
Britain, France, Germany, Japan and US want to keep NPP in power forever, hence, they make the turn to let John Kufuor introduce the very social welfare schemes they forced us to abolish in 1987.
Those welfare schemes were free education, medical care, free sanitation (in you are old enough you could remember that it was PNDC that introduced fees for household waste in all forms in 1987).
Those who fought against the removal of social welfare schemes were arrested and some imprisoned for a long time upon the command from the Bretton Wood Institutions.
