The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Bekwai Constituency in the Ashanti Region Joseph Osei-Owusu has disclosed that the party cannot trust police security for the party’s flagbearer and his running mate going into the November Polls.

He indicates that the police over the years have proven incapable of handling some security concerns of the party the need for the NPP to take charge of its internal security.

Contributing to a panel discussion on the Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Prince Minkah, the legislator reiterated that police cannot guarantee the security of the NPP the reason it had to rely on the professionalism of the arrested Ex-South African Policemen to boost its security strength.

“I have been a victim of robbery in 2005 while I was the head of DVLA. The robbers tied my hands and robbed everything and when they were done they left. We managed to call the police who came to my rescue and after everything they told me to take charge of my personal security taking into account my status in society “, he said.

He maintains that the party did not err in engaging the service three ex-SA security officials because some security agencies in Ghana also rely on foreign security agencies for training and latest security tactics.

“It is needless for propaganda on all these things. Ghana keeps importing human resource to train security officials on latest tactics. These were people who were just here to train our internal security on crowd control and VIP protection.

According to him, the NPP sought the services of Delta Security but because it was deficient in that regard, it recommended the three be brought in to augment their expertise.
