Victoria Hamah offers explanation on NDC's 24-hour economy

Victoria Hamah, a former Deputy Minister of Communication, has elucidated the opposition National Democratic Congress' (NDC) proposed 24-hour economy.

John Dramani Mahama, the NDC presidential candidate, introduced the 24-hour economy as one of the party's flagship policies for the upcoming 2024 elections.

However, the policy has sparked divided opinions among Ghanaians, with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) expressing skepticism about its feasibility.

Ms. Hamah contributed to the discussion by posting a detailed explanation of the NDC's controversial 24-hour economy on Facebook.

"The 24-Hour Economy is primarily a demand-driven policy proposal, founded on capital infrastructure, agribusiness, and constitutional review. It aims to achieve sustainable industrialization of Ghana's economy by supplying it with much-needed sustainable jobs and private capital," Ms. Hamah wrote.

"Therefore, the 24-Hour Economy will provide Ghanaians with more jobs and more businesses. To ensure the sustainable development of Ghana's economy, we must transition from short-term supply-driven policy interventions to long-term demand-driven policies.

"Demand-driven policies create structural transformation, which is crucial for moving Ghana away from dependency on aid, grants, and loans," she wrote.

Her post followed Paul Odom Otchere's 'Good Evening Ghana' program on Tuesday, which criticized some members of the NDC leadership for their inability to explain their policy to Ghanaians.

The 'Good Evening Ghana' host condemned NDC communicator Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah's verbal attacks on NPP Communicator Akosua Manu after the two women disagreed on the policy, describing Dr. Danquah's comments as "dirty, nasty, and low."
