Tumu-Kuoro elected to the Council of State

The Tumu-Kuoro Richard Babini Kanton has been elected as the Upper West Regional Representative of the Council of State.

The 59- year – old Kuoro Kanton who is also the Paramount Chief of the Tumu Traditional Council is the current President of the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs.

He polled 13 votes out of the 22 delegates representing the 11 constituencies in the region.

Other contestants were Abubakari Sadik Mohaisen who polled seven votes and Naa Jammaa Matarah II Gbankor Naa (Emmanuel M. Yuori) also managed with two votes.

Out of five candidates who filed to contest the position, two of them were Kuoro Barchen Nlowie Baninye of Niator in the Sissala West District and Naa Dikomwine Domalae (John Domalae) of Daffiama in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa District withdrew from the race paving way for the three candidates to run.

In his victory statement, Kuoro Kanton expressed commitment to using his position as the President of the Regional House of Chiefs and a Member of the Council of State to ensure the development of the Region.

He also congratulated the other candidates for contributing to a successful election in one way or the other and urged them to give him their support as he assumes the position.
