Over 800 NDC settlers at Suame Magazine defect to NPP

Over 800 settlers comprising metal scrap dealers, house helps and others who migrated from the three northern regions to Suame Magazine to seek greener pastures and members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have defected to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to them, they are always bused to the North to vote for the NDC during elections but their lives have not improved including their home regions.

They said their continuous voting and campaigning for the ruling NDC in all elections have not yielded any fruits.

The irate group announced their defection at Suame Magazine at a ceremony attended by Suame NPP Constituency executives and the MP who doubles as the Minority leader of Parliament Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu.

Leader of the Frafra settlers group at the artisans hub Denis Bugiri told Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako in an interview that, the NPP’s one district one factory promise captured in its Manifesto has lot of wisdom to transform their lives through provision of job opportunities in their home regions hence the need for their defection.

‘Northern group in Suame Magazine were NDC, every election we organized ourselves here and vote for the NDC but upon all that we are still here pounding fufu and we have not seen any improvements in our lives. We believe the message Nana Addo is delivering concerning job creation, he can do better to change our lives. That is why we have defected to NPP to support Nana win power, we are about 850 and more. This time we are going to do our homework well to ensure that NPP wins power and take us to the promised land,’ he said.

Welcoming the group into the NPP, minority leader Osei Kyei Mensah- Bonsu told the new converts that, the party will deliver its manifesto promises to transform the country from its deplorable state under the ruling government.
