The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied allegations of engaging in a contractual relationship with a Ukrainian public relations firm, Brandcom, to orchestrate an online smear campaign ahead of the 2024 presidential elections.

The denial follows a report published on AllAfrica.com on July 31, 2025, titled “Ukrainian PR Agency demands $280,000 from NPP for online smear campaign.”

According to the article, Brandcom allegedly demanded payment for services rendered to the NPP involving unethical online content creation.

But in a press statement issued on August 3, 2025, the NPP described the claims as “completely false, baseless, and defamatory.”

The party emphasised that it has no past or present contractual relationship with Brandcom or any similar entity, whether based in Ukraine or elsewhere.

“At no point did the leadership of the NPP engage, authorise, or instruct any foreign agency to operate fake social media accounts, produce smear campaign content, or undertake any unethical digital activities during the 2024 presidential campaign or any other cycle,” the party stated.

The NPP also underscored its commitment to issue-based campaigning, democratic values, and ethical political conduct.

“We reject any insinuation that undermines our record of issue-based campaigning and respect for democratic norms,” the statement added.

The party also expressed concern over what it described as a calculated attempt to tarnish its image and sow public distrust.

It demanded a retraction of the article and threatened legal action against Brandcom and any media outlet that republishes the allegations.

"Furthermore, the NPP views this publication as a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of the party and sow public distrust. We demand an immediate retraction of the false claims and reserve the right to pursue legal action against Brandcom and any media outlet that publishes or republishes these unsubstantiated allegations", it added.
