Former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Kobina Tahir Hammond, has slammed his successor, Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi-Dorani, for supposedly claiming that his (KT Hammond’s) mother was a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, the former legislator asserted that although his mother, during her active days, was a member of the 31st December Women’s Movement of former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, it did not mean that she was a member of the NDC.
He pointed out that many other women in those days, like his mother, were members of Nana Konadu’s movement.
NDC did not win Adansi Asokwa seat on merit - KT Hammond
He went on to slam Dorgbadzi-Dorani over his claims, describing him as an alien in the Adansi Asokwa constituency.
“What upset me was when he delved into my parentage and my mother. I have got a battalion in the NDC; some of my very, very good friends are in the NDC, but it is not a party that I want to belong to. There is a KT Hammond battalion in the NDC, from high up to the bottom, they are there.
“But I don’t have that political inclination or philosophy, and then you tell me that my mum was NDC... This ‘alien,’ who has been in the constituency for 8 years or so, comes in here and starts saying, ‘your mother was NDC,’ it is completely unfair,” he said.
