Mahama will not hesitate to reshuffle ministers when necessary - Fifi Kwetey

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has said President John Dramani Mahama will not delay or hesitate when it becomes necessary to reshuffle his ministers.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Channel One TV's Face to Face on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, Kwetey stated that the president is fully prepared to make changes in his administration whenever performance, national interest, or strategic direction demands it.

According to him, although he cannot give a specific timeline, Ghanaians should be assured that Mahama will act decisively when required.

“I wouldn’t be able to give it time, but all I can tell you is that there will not be one moment of hesitation if a reshuffle has to be done,” he said.

Kwetey also added that Mahama’s position is strengthened by the fact that he is not seeking reelection after 2028, giving him the freedom to take bold decisions without political pressure.

“Mahama has got a unique opportunity. In the past, most presidents literally had to tread cautiously because they were constantly having in mind a rerun. For Mahama, between now to 2028, he does not need to be afraid of somebody voting against him because he is not running again.

“… And he, because he is not running again, he can take any position that is clearly for the benefit of this country and also for the benefit of the party,” the NDC’s General Secretary said.
