Mahama's swift dismissal of Victoria Hammah laudable - Adams

The deputy General Secretary of National Democratic Congress Kofi Adams has lauded President Mahama for acting swiftly on the Vikileaks saga.

Kofi Adams in an interview on Breakfast XYZ said the president acted responsibly to restore confidence in his government among Ghanaians.

Mr. Adams however dismissed calls by the NPP USA branch for Victoria Hammah to be arrested over the content of the tape.

“What the NDC party and government have done in this matter is to indicate that anybody who belongs to us or given opportunity to serve in our government must have such primary objective to better the lot of the people he/she is supposed to serve, anything beyond that would not be tolerated,” he added.

“I think that the president has acted swiftly, has acted rightly to send a message to his appointees that whether you mean it or not you may not have to engage in such utterances” Mr. Adams said.

Meanwhile, the executive committee of the Ablekuma West constituency of the NDC has described the swift dismissal of Victoria Hammah as harsh and shocking.

In a statement by the deputy constituency organizer Dickson Lekey “recommended a more sober reflection on the issue so that there can be a fairer and thorough understanding of the matter”.
