Former Controller and Accountant General, Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, has called on presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to maintain decorum in their campaigns as the party prepares for its forthcoming presidential primaries.

He has urged the aspirants and their supporters to avoid using intemperate language and engaging in acts that could harm the party after the primaries.

The NPP presidential primary is gaining momentum, with five aspirants having filed their nominations ahead of the January 2026 polls.

However, supporters of these presidential hopefuls have been using derogatory words especially in the media against other candidates, eroding their public trust.

Addressing party supporters, family and friends at his 64th birthday celebration in Akyem Swedru on Spetember 6, 2025, Bosompem emphasised the need for peace and harmony within the party's ranks before, during and after the primaries.

"I humbly appeal to the presidential hopefuls of our party to use temperate language in their campaigns to ensure internal cohesion," he said.

"We must remain vigilant, faithful and be guided by the party's principles in our quest to elect a leader who can help us wrestle power in the 2028 general elections."

Bosompem also expressed concerns about the lack of development in Akyem Swedru and its surrounding communities, attributing it to persistent divisions within the local NPP.

He pledged to work towards unity within the party to facilitate development in the area.
