Kwabena Donkor lied over COCOBOD audited account claims - Fiifi Boafo

The Ghana COCOBOD has rejected claims that it has failed to submit its audited accounts for over three years.

According to the Manager at the Office of the Chief Executive of the COCOBOD, Fiifi Boafo, it will be impossible for the company to apply for syndication without its accounts being audited.

His comments follow claims by the MP for Pru East, Dr Kwabena Donkor that a number of state owned enterprises in the country have not had their accounts and their operations audited since 2014.

“A number of the our State owned corperates have not had their accounts audited as far back as 2014. Most of them do not have even 2016 audited accounts and as we speak we are in the last month of the first quarter of 2018. This goes against every tenet in the book and the worst case is that some of them are listed on the Stock Exchange, they’re public limited liability companies and they’ve not published their accounts for 2015/2016/2017.”

However Fiifi Boafo has described the allegation as false.

“COCOBOD is an institution that goes out to seek such huge amount of money and you can conclude that Ghana COCOBOD does not audit its account. The way he puts it with aspersion, insinuation and to some extent insults and attacking the personality of those who sit on the Board and those who serve as Chief Executive of these institutions requires that you do due diligence before you go to that extent.

“It’s a lie to say that the accounts of Ghana COCOBOD has not been audited since 2014, and also to make the point that Ghana COCOBOD will not be able to go for syndication if the accounts has not been audited. So it’s clearly a matter of someone who failed to do the proper check but just go out there to attack personalities and institutions.”
