I’m still CPP’s Youth Organiser - Ernesto Yeboah

The suspended National Youth Organiser of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ernesto Yeboah, has said he is still the leader of the youth command of the party.

According to him, the CPP’s Central Committee that suspended Nii Armah Akomfrah, the party’s general secretary and him has no legal locus thus their deferment is null and void.

As a result, Mr. Yeboah lucidly declared on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News that he holds himself as the party’s National Youth Organiser.

“I take exception to your referring to me as the suspended National Youth leader,” he told the host, Richard Dela Sky.

Mr. Yeboah and Akomfrah were suspended earlier last month following their scathing criticisms of President John Dramani Mahama in the wake of the Ford gift saga, a stance that contradicted the party’s flagbearer.

They were subsequently referred to the Party’s Disciplinary Committee –which cleared them in a report. However, the leadership repudiated their exoneration, explaining that the Disciplinary Committee’s report is inconclusive.

As a result, the two men remain suspended until a new report is presented. A decision, which threatens to unleash chaos among the rank and file of the party Monday –with the Youth League of the CPP alleging that the party’s Chairman, Edmund Delle ordered thugs to assault the two suspended party executives.

“That’s the impunities and illegalities we’re talking about. This is a revolutionary political organization with rich history and tradition, and so to seek to reduce it into an Azorka type of political organization is the saddest thing that could befall members of our party,” Mr. Yeboah said Monday.

He said grave indiscipline permeates the CPP’s executives and that the youth of the party will resist it.

He said: “…The point I’m making is that there’s this creeping indiscipline and culture of impunity that’s …I mean being applied by a section of the leadership of our party and it’ll not be tolerated by the youth of our party and neither the youth of our country.”

“Today (Monday)”, he added, “We went to the party’s office in the company of the police and they (Executives) came to the party’s office in the company of thugs. I mean that this speaks volumes of who’s on the side of the law and who’s not.”

However, the CPP’s Vice chairperson, Susan Adu-Amankwah disagrees with Mr. Yeboah’s submissions saying, “that’s not accurate…that’s totally inaccurate.”
