Ashanti NDC Chairman denies “chopping” party money

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, has urged his colleague politicians to rise above pettiness and mischief.

They should do everything to uphold some level of integrity. They should be noble and decent in all their undertakings.

This was contained in a press statement he issued in Kumasi to deny claims that he kept for himself monies meant for the party’s agents, who observed the just ended voters’ register exhibition at various centres in the Region.

Mr Obimpeh dismissed the allegation as “complete falsehood and a fiction” which he found irritating and sickening.

He said there was no way he could have done such a thing because the NDC’s National Executive would have exposed and sanctioned him.

Mr. Obimpeh stated that “peddling untruths just to make our opponents look bad is not the way to go”.

He called on members and supporters of the party to ignore ill-motivated gossip and rumuors, especially as they prepared to elected new regional officers.
