Newly elected National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has given the assurance that Volta Region will be adequately catered for under his chairmanship, asking the region to take him as their son, MyNewsGh.com has filed.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo who hails from Fanteakwa in the Eastern Region urged members of the party from the region to see him as their son who will represent their interest at all levels irrespective of the fact that he does not hail from the region, likening himself to Colonel Roger Joseph Atogetipoli Felli who though not from the Eastern Region, developed it.

“I will represent their interest and will ensure that they are well catered for. They should see me as their son from another mother and that they will not be left out as many perceive”, he stated in an interview MyNewsGh.com monitored.

Former National Women’s Organizer and failed National Organizer hopeful, Madam Anita De-soso after last Saturday’s polls, raised concerns about the non-inclusion of a 'Voltarians' in the current crop of elected executives stating that the Region feels betrayed.

“There is no 'Voltarian' amongst the national executive members...”, she lamented urging the party to subject the outcome to deep thinking.

But Mr Ofosu Ampofo promised that her concern would be addressed when the new crop of executives swing into action.

Meanwhile, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Joseph Ade Coker believes the outburst of the former women's leader was triggered by what he described as ‘election defeat heat”

“When one losses an election, during the early hours of the defeat some high amount of pressure runs through the stomach, blows in the head, and straight to the mouth...”, he explained.

According to him, such comments right after an election defeat is not strange for actors in the political landscape.
