Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has stated that he is still a member of the NDC despite claims that he has been suspended.
Speaking in an interview on ChannelOne TV’s Upside Down on May 10, 2026, Anyidoho disclosed he possesses a valid membership card and has not received any official documentation indicating that he has been expelled or suspended from the NDC.
“Contrary to some opinion, I’m still in this party. I have a membership card. Somebody says so, without any documentary evidence, but that’s politics,” he said.
Anyidoho explained that he continues to interact with individuals across Ghana’s political divide and sees nothing wrong with maintaining cordial relationships with members of other parties, including the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said that in 2025, he visited the Jubilee House, the seat of government, as part of his work with the Christian Council of Ghana.
I never left the NDC – Koku Anyidoho stands his ground
According to him, he was not prevented from entering the presidency and held discussions with Chief of Staff Julius Debrah.
“People don’t know that last year I actually went to the Flagstaff House because I was working with the Christian Council. Nobody stopped me from entering,” he noted.
Anyidoho also addressed criticism over his attendance at the thanksgiving service of former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, stressing that he attended as part of a delegation from the Christian Council and not at the invitation of Dr Bawumia personally.
He defended his friendships with prominent figures in the NPP, including Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko and former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, arguing that political differences should not prevent personal relationships.
“Anybody who gives me opportunity, I’ll associate with them. I will associate with Dr Bawumia. I will associate with Nana Addo. I will associate with Gabby,” he stressed.
Reflecting on his personal experiences, Anyidoho noted that Gabby Otchere-Darko was among the first people to visit him after the death of his daughter in 2020, while some of those who criticise his relationships failed to offer support during that difficult period.
He dismissed suggestions that the NDC as a party has a problem with him, insisting that only certain individuals have chosen to be ‘petty.’
“There is no human being called NDC. Some individuals choose to be petty, but NDC as a body politic doesn’t have a problem with me. I don’t have a problem with it,” he said.

A letter from the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the party dated July 27, 2021, to the former Deputy General Secretary said, “The National Democratic Congress considered the report and recommendations of the National Disciplinary Committee on the case of misconduct and anti-party behaviour brought against you (Mr Samuel Koku Anyidoho), pursuant to Article 48 (1) (9) (a) of the NDC Constitution.
It added: “The FEC acting in compliance of Article 48 (1) of the NDC Constitution unanimously adopted the report and accepts full responsibility for your expulsion from the party.
“You are, therefore, by this decision of FEC expelled from the NDC and for that matter, you are no more recognised as a member of the party and cannot carry yourself as such.”
The letter asked Anyidoho to, by pursuant to article 48 (10) of the party’s constitution, return any party property that might be in his custody.
The letter signed by the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah added that Anyidoho would forfeit any monies, dues or subscription fees he might have made to the party.
The National Disciplinary Committee in its report said, “Samuel Koku anyidoho was liable for misconduct and is, therefore, amenable to disciplinary sanctions specified under Article 48) of the party’s constitution.”
When contacted, Anyidoho declined to comment on what he described as “the purported letter.”
That was because, he claimed the party had not officially served him with any letter.
Besides, he said the name that is circulating on social media did not bear resemblance of his name.
The suspension letter to the former NDC Deputy General Secretary said, the action was taken pending the final determination of a petition submitted to the leadership of the party by some NDC members complaining about Anyidoho’s conduct.
Dated February 8, 2021, the suspension statement signed by Asiedu Nketiah said separate petitions were made to the FEC of the party against Anyidoho for breaching the party’s disciplinary code for its members as contained in the NDC constitution.
“At its meeting on the January 20, 2021, FEC considered two separate petitions from two registered members of the National Democratic Congress each of which lodged an official complaint against your conduct which is viewed to be in breach of the party’s disciplinary code for its members as contained in the NDC Constitution,” the letter said.
The petitioners were the Oti Regional Communications Officer of the party, Mubarak Abdul-Karim, and the Bono Regional Deputy Communications Officer, Eric Adjei.
