The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Abraham Koomson, has claimed that the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, is under both spiritual and physical attack.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Yepe Ahunushow program on Saturday, September 13, 2025, Koomson stated that the first challenge confronting the outspoken NPP executive was spiritual in nature.

He linked this to Abronye’s recent verbal attacks on the General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams.

He recalled that the Archbishop had warned Abronye to retract his insults and apologise within 72 hours or face consequences.

“Abronye does not believe in the spiritual realm, but this world is both physical and spiritual. When you ignore such warnings, the consequences can manifest,” Koomson said.

The labour leader added that Abronye was also facing physical challenges as a result of his public conduct.

Abronye remanded again

According to him, the NPP regional chairman’s frequent insults and provocations naturally expose him to retaliation or danger.

“The way Abronye goes about insulting people could certainly provoke someone to do him harm. He should not blame anyone for his fate,” Koomson noted.

Currently, Abronye is in police custody following an order by the Accra Circuit Court. He was first remanded on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, after being charged with the publication of false news and offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.

On Friday, the court extended his remand by one week to allow for further investigations.

He is expected to reappear on September 19, 2025.

The charges stem from remarks he made on a television programme, where he allegedly claimed that all strategic meetings of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akwatia were attended by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

He also reportedly described the current IGP, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, as the “most corrupt” police chief in Ghana’s history.
