Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan says the NPP government is being excessively ambitious in setting targets which they are unable to achieve in the stipulated time.

Speaking to GhanaWeb on the sidelines of the presentation of the 2018 budget statement and economic policy presentation, the Former Deputy Finance Minister noted that most of the issues highlighted in the 2018 budget were mentioned in the 2017 budget and have only been rolled over because the government couldn’t implement them.

He said, “I want this government to understand that it is good to be overambitious but important that you’re realistic and therefore when you set yourself unrealistic target and ambition, you will only end up not being able to do any of them”.

“When you over-promise it sounds good in people’s ears but as to whether you can achieve it is another thing,” he added.

Ricketts-Hagan said if the Akufo-Addo government keeps on setting such targets, they will end up not fulfilling any of their promises to Ghanaians within the four years they have as they will keep rolling over projects.

Finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta on Wednesday, 15th November presented the 2018 budget statement and economic policy to parliament.
