Health insurance week launched at Yamoransa

Yamoransa, July 20, GNA - The District Chief Executive for Mfantseman, Mr Robert Quainoo-Arthur, has called on Youth Associations, Assembly Members and Traditional authorities to get involved in the education and registration of subscribers for the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme.

This would ensure that more people were covered by the Scheme. Mr Quainoo-Arthur made the call at the launch of the Health Insurance Registration Week declared by the District Assembly at Yamoransa.

The Assembly declared July 18-24 as Mutual Health Registration Week for an intensified public education to encourage more people to register.

The declaration of the week became necessary due to the slow pace of registration in the District.

Mr Quainoo Arthur appealed to people sitting on the fence to change their attitude towards the registration without further delay. He noted that non-registration would be risky to them, adding that, "The issue is life or death, which no one should allow anybody to mislead him or her," he said.

The DCE said the Health Insurance Scheme held the key to their good health and cautioned people who were politicising the scheme to stop since that was not in the interest of the people.

The DCE led some staff of the assembly and officials of the management of the scheme to register over 200 people at Yamoransa after the launch of the exercise.
