A new office for KOFIH inaugurated in Accra

An office complex to house the operations of the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) office in Ghana was on Tuesday inaugurated at the premises of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in Accra.

The GHC 384,000 facility was an old building offered to the foundation in December last year by the GHS to refurbish for use.

It would however be handed over to the service to use after the foundation had completed its project in Ghana.

Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, Director General of the GHS who was speaking at the opening of the office said the service would continue to stay and work together with KOFIH to enable them to attain their aim in Ghana.

He hoped that the service would in the near future have a bigger office to accommodate all its development partners.

Mr Kim Sungsoo, the Korea Ambassador to Ghana said KOFIH as an international healthcare organisation was poised to support the delivery of good and quality health service to the people of Ghana

Ms. Jung Hyejin, KOFIH representative to Ghana expressed gratitude to the government of Ghana for allowing them the space to operate saying ‘I hope this office will serve as a hub between the two countries ideas’.

She said KOFIH was presently working in four districts in the Volta Region and intends to expand it to two more districts.

She said the foundation would host lots of meetings and training programmes in the office and invited all health partners to visit the office for collaborations.

KOFIH would in this year according to Ms Hyejin work towards improving emergency obstetrics at the districts level to help improve access to health for all.

Dr. Maureen Martey, Head of bilateral and domestic resource mobilisation at the Ministry of Health thanked the Korean government for their support in improving maternal care indicators in the Volta region over the years.
