Kpone-Katamanso health directorate fights TB

The Kpone- Katamanso Municipal Health Directorate is redoubling.efforts to uproot Tuberculosis in the Municipality.

Among the efforts, is free health screening for residents of Zenu, a settlement in the Municipality.

The health screening was on the theme, ' It' s time to find people living with TB, " which was culled from the global Tuberculosis theme:" It's time to end TB".

The health screening was sponsored by the Kpone Katamanso Municipal Assembly(KKMA) and supported by the National T.B control Programme.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mrs. Rita - Patricia Frimpong Amenyo, Municipal Health Director, noted that, many people were living with the disease but unaware of it, hence the need for the screening.

Mrs Amenyo added that, 18 people tested positive with the TB disease in January this year, in the Municipality, saying that, many could be living among the population with it without knowing.

She further reminded residents that Tuberculosis was curable adding that treatment was also free therefore they must take advantage to know their status.

Mrs. Getrude Abebleh, Project Coordinator, Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA), for Kpone-Katamanso, educating residents on GAMA's sanitation project, urged them to take advantage of the project to acquire a decent toilet facility for their homes to help prevent outbreak of communicable diseases.

Mr Jerry Adzololo, Assembly Member for the Zenu- Sraha Electoral Area, expressed gratitude on behalf of the participants to the Health Directorate for promoting good health in the community.

Mr.Adzorlolo appealed to them to organize frequent screening for them.
