The Brekuso Health Centre is in a deplorable state and if efforts are not employed, healthcare delivery in the community, will be hampered, the Midwife Madam Georgina Opare has lamented.

In an exclusive interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem’s Nhyiraba Kwabena Essilefie, she said the facility which used to be a CHIPS compound, provides general healthcare services however; they are facing serious infrastructural challenges.

According to her, the facility is unable to also pay for their electricity bills and when the worse occurs, they consult traditional leaders to assist them.

She lamented that, there are accommodating both children and adults in a small office in the community and has therefore called on government to come to their aid by construction a new facility to ensure quality healthcare.

Madam Georgina Opare told our reporter that, the chief in the area has allocated a land for the construction of a new hospital.

According to her, the poor road network in the area is also hampering their work. ‘’We have only two beds at the space used as ward. The one at the maternity ward is in a deplorable state and when we get more than two patients, it becomes extremely difficult to manage them,’’ she said.

The facility is faced by an acute shortage of vital facilities and can hardly cope with the high number of patients, she added.

The health facility, she said, has 10 nurses including community health nurses, psychiatric officers, technicians and midwives.

Mampong and Nsawam she noted are the two referral hospitals for the facility.
