Blue Cross Foundation cares for the aged

The Blue Cross Foundation of Accra, a non-governmental organization that provides healthcare for the aged and the deprived, has organized a health screening exercise for the aged at Akyem Adukrom near Kyebi.

The Foundation also provided medication to those who after the screening need some prescription.

Speaking at the screening programme, Ms Faustina Gyimah, founder and President of the Foundation, said the Foundation targeted 200 aged persons but had to care for over 500 people.

She said the people were screened for malaria, diabetes, cold and high blood pressure.

Ms Gyimah said there are more aged people living in deprived communities who needed good health care and appealed to corporate institutions and individuals to sponsor the Foundation to organize similar programmes for more of such people.

Ms Gyimah expressed her appreciation to those who sponsored the programme including M& G Pharmaceuticals of Accra, Pharmanova , IPMC and Radio One of Bunso Junction.

Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, former Minister of State, who hails for the village said, he started school at the village and has returned to offer the needed support.

The Chief of Akyem Adukrom, Nana Oppong Ofori II, thanked the Foundation , the medical team and all those who contributed to the success of the programme.
