THEME: SMALL BITE, BIG THREAT
This year the focus of World Health Day is to draw attention to the menace of Vector Borne Diseases. These diseases cause over one (1) million deaths worldwide yearly.
Vector borne diseases are diseases that result from an infection transmitted to humans and other animals by blood feeding organisms such as MOSQUITOES, TICKS, FLEAS AND FLIES (e.g. Sandflies).
Some of the diseases caused include: MALARIA, FILARIASES (including ONCHOCERCIASES), DENGUE FEVER ETC.
Attached is a chart from World Health Organization (WHO) that summarizes the threat of vector borne diseases.
Remember that all it takes is ONE BITE and it can happen to you or your loved ones right in your HOME.
DO everything possible (see attachment) to avoid bites BUT even BETTER let us all work to eradicate the vectors.
Remember: SMALL BITE, BIG THREAT – ALL IT TAKES IS JUST ONE BITE!!
AS ALWAYS LAUGH OFTEN, WALK AND PRAY EVERYDAY AND REMEMBER IT’S A PRICELESS GIFT TO KNOW YOUR NUMBERS (blood sugar, blood pressure, blood cholesterol, BMI)
