Ho Municipal Insurance to take services to workplaces

Public and private sector workers in the Ho Municipality are to be served at their workplace by the Ho Municipal Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) by February.

Under this workplace-contact approach, teams from the Scheme would register new members, renew the cards of old members and take their cards to them at their workplaces.

Mr George Tasiame, Public Relations officer of the Scheme, told the GNA on Thursday that this would be in addition to house-to-house sensitization and registration aimed at maximizing public participation in the Scheme.

He said there would be five back-up teams each headed by a management member to operate in smaller zones on Saturdays.

Mr Tasiame advised those not registered with the scheme to do so immediately and members to renew their cards when they are about to expire.

He reminded clients that processing of blood, fibroid surgery, bedding and feeding for those on admission are covered by the Scheme.

He said the Scheme’s call Centre number 0544446447 or short code 6447are constantly available for use by clients and potential clients to clear doubts, provide feedback and seek information about the Scheme.

Mr Tasiame said the Scheme caused a facility to refund 350.00 Ghana cedis each to seven women who underwent fibroid operation in 2012 and 2013.

He said the facility had charged the Scheme for those services.

Mr Tasiame attributed such situations to the ignorance of clients and urged them to contact its call Centre regularly for updates and avoid being cheated.
