Health Director emphasizes on exclusive breast-feeding

Madam Rebecca Domoh, the Dormaa-East District Director of Health Services, has appealed to lactating mothers in the area to religiously comply with the six-month mandatory breast-feeding period for new-born babies.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Wamfie, she said the programme had the potential to protect the new babies against the childhood killer diseases.

Madam Domoh urged mothers to ignore rumours that children taken through exclusive breast-feeding could grow to become Mal-adjusted.

The District Director explained that all policies, programmes and projects being executed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and its development partners and stakeholders, were founded on national as well as internationally acclaimed research findings.

“It is therefore unacceptable for any group or individual to condemn such policies as the practice can only jeopardize the smooth growth and future of our children”, she added.

Madam Domoh stressed the need for homes to promote regenerative health in order for them to avoid catching preventable diseases.**
