The Ministry of Health says the District Health Information Management System (DHIMS), which experienced a temporary disruption, has been restored and is now fully operational.

The system, managed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS), supports the collation and management of health information at the district level.

A statement issued and signed by Tony Goodman, Spokesperson, Ministry of Health said the Ministry appreciates the patience and understanding of all stakeholders during the period of disruption.

“We wish to further clarify that the Ghana Health Information Management System (GHIMS), used by hospitals for patient and medical records management, remained operational and was not affected by the disruption.”

The statement said the Ministry remains committed to strengthening digital health systems to improve efficiency, data management, and healthcare delivery across the country.

The systems had been inaccessible since October 29, 2026.

It was disrupted following the suspension of 10 servers by Akama over an outstanding payment of $64,510.95

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority Caucus in Parliament had expressed concern over the disruption to the systems.

It therefore called on government to restore access to key electronic health information systems and provide a comprehensive account of expenditure on the country’s digital health infrastructure.
