The Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo, says the facility has been receiving patients from outside Ghana, necessitating the expansion of its facilities to cater for the increasing numbers.

According to him, aside from receiving and treating patients from 12 of the 16 regions in Ghana, the hospital also treats patients from other countries.

“As I said earlier, we have patients flying all the way from Mexico to the Cleft Centre for surgery, telling you the experience and quality of our services,” Dr Baidoo said.

“What we need now is to expand our facilities to ensure every single patient who comes to the facility gets the needed attention,” he added.

Dr Baidoo made the remarks when KATH organised inter-directorate fun games for staff as part of activities to mark the hospital’s 70th anniversary.

Speaking to OTEC News reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng on Saturday, September 18, 2026, on the sidelines of the games, he said management was already using its Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to expand some infrastructure at the hospital.

He noted that the government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, had also been supporting the hospital with critical infrastructure projects that would help save lives.

He assured the public of the hospital’s commitment to saving lives and providing quality healthcare.

Dr Baidoo commended the staff of the hospital for their dedication and commitment to saving lives.
